While Sanders will start his second year as the head coach at Colorado this season, he’s had a varied resume before moving to Boulder. That included starting Prime Prep Academy in 2012 with two campuses (Oak Hill, Texas, and Dallas). The school eventually closed in 2015.

A new era began last season in Boulder, where much was made of Sanders rehauling of the team and his use of the transfer portal, which initially gave the school and him success, winning his first three games. Tougher competition and lack of depth at key positions saw the decline at the end of the season, as Colorado lost its last six games to finish with a 4-8 record.

Named the head coach in 2020, Sanders reenergized the program and made a huge splash on the national scene. He compiled a 27-6 record over three seasons, including an 11-2 record in 2021 and a 12-1 record in 2022.
