Tips for Responsible Gambling

Gambling is for fun. There are a few things to keep in mind whenever you are wagering online (or in person):

  • Set a budget that you can realistically afford to lose.
  • Never play beyond your means.
  • Set a time limit and stick to it.
  • Avoid placing a large bet with the hopes that you will win big.
  • Never chase your losses.
  • You should not look at wagering as a get-rich-quick method or a pathway to financial freedom.
  • Drinking or being under the influence of another substance while wagering should be avoided.
  • Stay away from gambling if you are in recovery.

Gambling, whether it be betting, casino wagering, lottery play, horse racing and more, is meant to be a form of entertainment. It should always be done in a responsible way. If ever you feel like you are losing control of your gambling, please know there are ample resources in Colorado and on a national level that can be accessed 24/7, for free.
