Nuggets Among Best in October

The Nuggets have gone 20-12 (.625) in October over the last half-decade, which is good enough to land Denver the eighth-best record in the 30-team association during that timeframe. Overall, the Michael Malone-coached team ranks behind Boston and San Antonio, which are tied for seventh at 19-11 (.633) and ahead of Minnesota, which ranks ninth at 18-13 (.581). The league’s October standard-bearer is Milwaukee, which has gone 22-9 (.710), while the cellar dwellers are Houston, Orlando and Sacramento, with dueling 11-21 (.344) records.

Denver opens the season with home games against the L.A. Lakers (Oct. 24) and Utah (Oct. 30) interspersed with road games against Memphis (Oct. 27) and Oklahoma City (Oct. 29). Oddsmakers at Caesars Sportsbook Colorado list the Nuggets as a five-point favorite over the Lakers with a -205 moneyline.
